our fabulous kate spade new york partners from brazil just surprised us with a box of perfectly packaged colorful little treats. they told us that these individually wrapped confections, called bem casados (“happily married” in portuguese) are offered to guests at the end of wedding receptions to represent the couple in their new sweet life. we have yet to taste one of the tiny dulce de leche-filled sponge cakes because, in our typical presentation-obsessed fashion, we think the ribbon-tied papers are too pretty to tear into. undoubtedly, our restraint will wear down shortly and, when it does, we’ll take the first delectable bite and think fondly of the blissful marriage between our new york and são paulo teams. to appropriate this lovely tradition for weddings here in the us, bem casados can be ordered at bem casados by cristina.
