in 1946, the famously conservative motion picture production code had a ban on on-screen kisses longer than three seconds. in his film notorious, director alfred hitchcock skirted the rules with an on-and-off bisou session between cary grant and ingrid bergman that stretched nearly three minutes—widely known as one of the most romantic movie kisses ever.
